The Italy Aerotouring Flight Guide is the first of a range of publications created to provide General Avia-tion pilots with complete and detailed information dedicated to, and essential for aero-tourism purposes, both in terms of flight planning and in terms of organising leisure time activities after touchdown.
This guide describes the entire network of landing points throughout the whole of Italy, including airports, airstrips, ULM airfields and helicopter landing pads. It also includes basic information on Italian airports, as well as previously unpublished information about more than 500 airstrips that are open to GA and ULM traf-fic, but are not included in the AIP Italia guide.
In addition, the guide also describes Italian Aviation in terms of its history, its museums, its records and its art, providing a complete and exhaustive framework of everything related to Italian aviation.
This is a proper and useful guide that will accompany you in flight or on land, providing you with informa-tion regarding the routes you should take to discover new landscapes, aero-touring landing points, aero-resorts, hotels, restaurants, museums, old town centres and exclusive locations that you can get to by air.
Thousands of bits of detailed information have been carefully and precisely included in order to ensure that you can fly like you never even imagined was possible.
Aerotouring Flight Chart is a new series of aeronautical charts published by Avioportolano, designed and created specifically for professional and tourist VFR aerial navigation.
The entire country of Italy is printed on only two front/back flight charts (North/Central and South/Isles) and cut into a minimal format for an easy consultation on board. The altitude information has been presented in the form of altitude curves and barometric colours so as to provide the pilot with an instant and accurate vis-ual reading of the lie of the land, and the altitude bands that identify the plateaus, hills and mountains clearly highlight the valley areas.
The chart reflects the location of all the airports and private airstrips, including those that are not shown in the AIP Italia, together with individual identification codes assigned to them by Avioportolano, the details of which can be found in the Italy Aerotouring Flight Guide 2010/2011.
Particular attention has been paid to essential basic information. Special icons enable the pilot to immedi-ately identify Aerotouring Landing Points that offer certain facilities (overnight accommodation and restau-rant facilities), as well as technical landing points and the main services available at the various airstrips, fo-cusing particularly of the availability of fuel and any notification requirements prior to landing. In addition to the various airspaces, the chart also identifies areas of restricted airspace and areas where there may be ULM traffic or free flight activity, as well as nature parks and protected fauna areas.
As regards the general geography, particular care has been taken with information relating to densely inhab-ited areas. Certain point and linear features (towns, roads, railway lines and rivers) were selected on the basis of their relative importance and visibility as ground reference points for visual navigation purposes, and on the basis of their importance in terms of tourism, culture and the environment.
